One of the STC routes has been officially acquired by a local transportation company, after approval from the Highway Traffic Board. Melville-based Dical Transport will be running passenger bus service in Yorkton, Melville, Balcarres, Fort Qu’Appelle, and Regina. The company says an expansion of services to Canora, Sturgis, Kamsack, and Preeceville are planned for the near future. But for now, DiCal will focus on what they have and continue to make preparations, as the first day of the service starts July 10th. Owner and operator Diane Smith says the company’s website will have updated schedules and fees by the end of Friday (30th). DiCal originally wanted to start operating June 1st, but were stalled by supporters of the former Saskatchewan Transportation Company, who protested the provincial bus company’s closure.
