In the second quarter of the year, the private sector job vacancy rate in Saskatchewan edged up from record lows last year to 2.2 per cent.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business says that represents 75 hundred unfilled jobs.
Comparatively, Canada’s rate edged up to 2.6 per cent.
Chief Economist Ted Mallett says quote — “We are starting to see a growing number of unfilled jobs in most provinces across the country. “
In Saskatchewan, the rate gained 0.1 percentage points from Q1 but it still remains well below previous peaks.
Back in 2014, for example, the vacancy rate was 3.7 per cent in Q2, representing 13-thousand unfilled jobs.
