Harvest in Saskatchewan is well ahead of both the 5 year and 10 year average for this time of year.
Saskatchewan Agriculture’s Brent Flaten says provincially farmers have 45% of this year’s crops in the bin.
The five year average is 28%, and the 10 year average for this time of year is 27%. Flaten says it is one of the earliest harvests in recent memory.
“The closest would have been 2015 which was actually another dry year,” Flaten said. “But in 2015 we were at 40 per cent, which is still lower than the 45 per cent that we’re at provincially right now.”
Harvest progress is most advanced in the southwest at 70% complete. Harvest in our east central region is 36% complete.
