Edmonton police have charged a 30-year-old Somali refugee with 11 offences, including 5 for attempted murder, in connection to a terrorist attack Saturday night.
One police officer was stabbed, and four others were injured when they were hit by a rental truck.
The man has been identified as Abdulahi Hasan Sharif, and will appear in court tomorrow (Tues).
Regina Police Chief Evan Bray says this event was unnerving for many people, but underscores the police were doing a good job in handling the crowds at Commonwealth Stadium.
Bray also says events like this requires a different approach to policing. He says officers in the country are well-trained, but they might need to be gently reminded of the basics.
