Contract talks have been suspended between the province and the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation.
STF President Patrick Maze says the government has been delaying the appointment of new members to the Educational Relations Board, which oversees collective bargaining agreements so they had no choice.
Once the appointments are made, Maze is confident bargaining can resume.
He says the latest round of talks with the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee was making gradual progress.
The application to the courts to force the appointment of members to the board was made last week and is scheduled to be heard by the Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon on October 24th.
