A First Nation is fighting for its traditional way of life.
Carry the Kettle First Nation has filed a claim against the Saskatchewan and Canadian governments for infringing on its Treaty 4 rights.
Lead legal council, Robert Janes says both governments have said they are in the process of responding, but it takes time.
Janes, explains that there are 2 major agreements with the Treaty: the first is the reserve land, and the second is that First Nations would be able to continue their way of life on their traditional lands, which means beyond the border of a reserve.
Carry the Kettle wants a conversation and agreements on the larger issues, including what has happened in the past and the overall picture for their future.
