All three levels of government were present today (Thu) as a new affordable housing project opened in Regina.
The project, a 45 unit affordable housing facility, is a part of the 10 year, 40 billion dollar plan from the government of Canada’s National Housing Strategy.
Minister of Public Safety Ralph Goodale says while the strategy still needs some ironing out, an existing pool of 54 million dollars is being used to build more affordable housing in Saskatchewan communities.
“The Government of Canada partners with the Province of Saskatchewan and depending on the location in the province also with the local municipality, with non governmental organizations and projects like these come into effect.” stated Goodale
Goodale says the project is special, as it helps to help people whose economic and/or personal circumstances have them struggling to find safe, affordable housing.
