Saskatchewan agriculture minister Lyle Stewart is meeting with rail companies this week to discuss poor grain movement.
Stewart is adding his voice to the farm groups concerned about reduced grain movement in recent weeks.
“Both railway performances have been disappointing. I know they will sight cold weather as a factor and I’m sure it is a factor and that’s not just an excuse. We’ve had a substantial amount of temperatures below minus 20.” stated Stewart.
The latest figures show CN supplied only 34 percent of the hopper car orders and CP Rail 69 percent in the week ending February 11th.
