The trial for a former R-C-M-P member facing three historical sexual assault charges in Yorkton, has come to an abrupt end. 62-year-old Alan Davidson pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Sexual Assault, while the 3rd count was stayed this morning. The alleged victim of the third assault had become visibly upset with the defence lawyer’s cross-examination, and was finding it difficult to continue his testimony. However, after the announcement of the plea deal, the victim burst into the courtroom, demanding closure from Davidson, and had to be restrained by police. Sentencing submissions have been scheduled for tomorrow, but they’re complicated by the fact that Davidson pleaded guilty to five similar charges in B-C, and has yet to be sentenced on those. Between March and December of 2014, three individuals came forward and reported being sexually assaulted as youth while they were living in or visiting Yorkton, between 1987 and 1991.
