SaskEnergy says they’ve determined that January’s large natural gas outage was caused thanks to previous unreported damage.
On January 10th natural gas service was lost to nearly 4500 homes and businesses in northeastern Saskatchewan in Melfort, St. Brieux, Kinistino and the surrounding area.
SaskEnergy’s Casey McLeod says this serves as an important reminder to always report even suspected damage to lines.
“If you do make contact with a natural gas line whether it ruptures or not at the time or even if you think you may have come in contact with one, to give us a call and we will send someone out. If we do come out there and nothings been damaged or nothings been hit there will be no charge for us to come out there.”- stated McLeod.
McLeod adds investigation has determined the line was damaged by a back-hoe type machine, and they’re working to determine who was responsible
