A community funded piece of equipment is being put to good use at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
A new surgical microscope was purchased by the Health Foundation for the hospital and Dr. Harold Smith explains some of the features.
“This microscope has wireless foot controls which is a big benefit for us in the operating room by being able to position the controls without the fear of tripping for staff or patients it just makes the whole procedure smoother and a little safer in that regard as well.” said Smith.
He adds the lighting and brightness of the microscope is better than ever before.
The new microscope allows approximately 30 patients to be treated weekly, an improvement from the old microscope which was noticeably less.
