The latest announcement regarding housing cuts has some members of Saskatchewan NDP up in arms.
The provincial government announced the suspension of the Rental Housing Supplement as of June 30th for new applicants.
The NDP’s Trent Wotherspoon said this move from the government isn’t going to strike low earners hard.
“This defies common sense. It lacks basic compassion and certainly $459 is insufficient to go out and rent and fill the fridge with basic needs.” stated Wotherspoon.
Social Services Corporation minister Paul Merriman says the suspension is from high vacancy rates and low rental costs and rates to review the money invested in their social services.
