Yorkton Rural RCMP say Friday’s (Apr. 27) collision between a semi and a pickup truck on Highway 9 south was fatal.
The male driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the semi was transported to Yorkton hospital with minor injuries.
The semi driver’s name is not being released as the investigation is ongoing.
Around noon, RCMP were called out to Highway 9, 5 miles south of Yorkton, where a northbound semi collided with a south bound truck causing both vehicles to hit the west and east ditches of the highway.
The semi-trailer caught fire, but there were no hazardous materials as the unit was hauling industrial ventilation equipment.
It resulted in the closure of the highway until later in the evening.
