Two schools in Balgonie remain in hold and secure mode, as the RCMP continue to investigate threats that were allegedly made on social media.
Greenall High School and Balgonie Elementary School were initially placed into a hold and secure this morning (Wed), after being made aware of comments posted online towards one of the schools and/or students.
“As most of our information was coming through third and even fourth parties, and through social media platforms, tracking down the source or exactly what was said has been challenging,” said the White Butte RCMP in a news release. “With the assistance of the Regina Police Service and our own investigators, we are still working to determine exactly what was said.”
“Most of the social media comments are being conducted by kids and the ever expanding rumour mill, The ‘I heard this’ and ‘so and so heard that’ is making determining what exactly the thoughts are behind the posts or if there is a real threat so difficult. ” Mounties added.
However those comments were deemed vague in nature, but still serious enough to warrant precautions.
Police were informed that the high school was dealing with a student’s death from Monday evening (Apr. 30) prior to this incident.
