A public meeting was held in Canora Thursday night concerning a proposed Hutterite colony and poultry farm near Stenen.
Bates says representatives from Saskatchewan Agriculture and the Water Security Agency attended the meeting.
He says while questions around safety and water quality were answered, not everyone is willing to accept the facts.
“The opposition I think is not so concerned about the science as much as the location. They think it’s going to bother their lifestyle or change their lifestyle,” Bates said.
“A bit disappointing from my perspective,” he added.
Bates says the R.M. council will be discussing the issue further at their next regular meeting, next week.
