The opposition is alarmed at the turnaround time for lab results in Saskatchewan.
NDP leader Ryan Meili says some doctors are complaining about a five or six week wait time for biopsy results.
Health minister Jim Reiter says he is deeply concerned about the wait times for lab tests.
“Regina currently has a six day backlog, that time depends on the type of sample and the urgency. Mr. Speaker, none of these changes have been made since the formation of the provincial health authority. However we extremely concerned about that and officials are going to continue to look at this in the next couple of days” said Reiter.
Reiter says the issue was raised Friday at the Saskatchewan Medical Association meeting in Regina.
