A big step toward legalization of marijuana in Canada has been taken, as the Senate approved Bill C-45. Senators voted 52-29 to pass the Trudeau government’s cannabis bill. There were 2 abstentions. All that’s needed for Canada to become the first industrialized country in the world to make pot legal nationwide is royal assent, which could come in days. However, officials suspect the provinces will need most of the rest of the summer to get things ready.
