Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer held the last barbecue of the campaign season along Broadway Street East in Yorkton today (Fri).
Co-Founder Greg Ottenbreit says the campaign has been going really good.
“Overall we were pretty close to 40-thousand dollars for research, which is a pretty good year,” Ottenbreit said. “Local initiatives: there’s still a few things to go yet like the Hyundai initiative that (Dealer Principal) Ron Kaban puts on.”
All of the proceeds go towards the Close Cuts for Cancer Local Cancer Initiatives Program, “which aims to enhance the lives of people from Yorkton and area that are affected by cancer”.
“Whatever need that we can find in town that will support those going through cancer, we focus on with our local initiatives money, and that’s what these events contribute to.” explained Ottenbreit.
Looking ahead, Ottenbreit says a few more small events are on tap later this year, such as a pancake breakfast at Good Spirit Lake during the August Long Weekend.
While the official campaign season is wrapping up, people can still make donations to Close Cuts online at https://donate.saskcancer.ca/pages/donation-form—brayden-ottenbreit-close-cuts-for-cancer with the participants name in the comments section.
