The estate and family of Adam Herold has filed a lawsuit against the semi driver charged, the trucking company and the manufacturer of the bus.
The statement of claim filed in Regina Court of Queen’s Bench today (Mon) is seeking an unknown amount in damages, expenses, costs and interest.
The Herold family accuses all three of negligence and intentional infliction of emotional suffering by the driver charged, Jaskirat Sidhu, and the trucking company.
Sidhu is facing 29 charges, including 16 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and 13 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
He’s due in Melfort Provincial Court tomorrow (Tues) morning at 9:30.
Herold was among the 16 people that died in the April 6th Humboldt Bronco bus crash, which also injured 13, and was days away from his 17th birthday.
The accusations in the statement of claim have not been proven in court; a statement of defence has not yet been filed.
