A new lease structure and property management company is being established at Crooked Lake.
The Sakimay First Nation says all new leases will be managed by Basadinaa Property Management Limited – a subsidiary of Sakimay Management Authority.
It is hoped the new ones will be offered to cottage owners by the end of September.
A rate increase as high as 700 per cent for some owners was implemented by the First Nation in 2009, which triggered a lawsuit.
A federal court judge decided in favour of the tenants saying the increase couldn’t be imposed for a 5-year period, but the decision is under appeal.
