The family of Colten Boushie is suing the RCMP and Gerald Stanley.
They seek over $1.86 million in total damages, including $410-thousand to cover funeral and out of pocket expenses, lost employment earnings and damages.
The claim accuses Stanley, who was acquitted of 2nd degree murder in the August 2016 incident earlier this year, of causing Boushie’s death through negligence, recklessness or by intentional act.
It is also suing the Attorney General of Canada and individual RCMP officers over the way they were treated the night Boushie died.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
