With few weather interruptions, Saskatchewan farmers continue to make headway on harvest.
According to Saskatchewan Agriculture’s weekly crop report, 27% of this year’s crops are now in the bin. The 5 year average for this time of year is 13% complete.
Harvest in our east-central region is 16% complete, up from 7% last week and ahead of the 5 year average of 6% for this time of year.
There were some light showers throughout the province last week but Saskatchewan Agriculture’s Allie Noble says it wasn’t enough to help replenish topsoil moisture.
Across the province, topsoil moisture conditions on cropland are rated as 25% adequate, 46% short and 29% very short. Hay land and pasture topsoil moisture is rated as 21% adequate, 38% short and 41% very short.
