Add Melville City Council to the list of those who want to keep the municipal election date as is. Barring any changes, the civic vote is October 28th, 2020. The Saskatchewan government, however, is considering moving the date ahead one year, to 2021, since the provincial vote is November 2nd, 2020. Another reason, the government says, is to avoid voter and election worker fatigue, as well as an overlap in election campaigns. Melville Mayor Walter Streelasky says City Council and himself were given a 4-year mandate, “no less, no more”.
