An attempt by Regina-Lewvan M-P Erin Weir to get back into the federal N-D-P caucus has been rejected by leader Jagmeet Singh.
That decision has drawn the anger of many former Saskatchewan N-D-P M-P’s and M-L-A’s who have written a letter to Singh, voicing their displeasure and their support of Weir, who was banished following complaints of harassment and sexual harassment.
“We think that the constitution’s been violated, the party policy has been violated, the House of Commons policy, the collective agreement,” said. Pat Atkinson, who speaks for the group of 67 former NDP politicians. “You cannot have an investigation without an actual written complaint and he (Jagmeet Singh) ignored all that.”
Among those signing the letter are long-time Saskatchewan N-D-P politicians like Lorne Nystrom, John Solomon, Glenn Hagel and Deb Higgins.
