Melville-Saltcoats MLA Warren Kaeding says the ongoing expansion of the CN Railyard in Melville has caught the eye of a few R.M.’s.
Speaking before Melville City Council this week, Kaeding also mentioned some 50 new employees coming to the community has already benefitted the local economy.
“I had the pleasure of talking to a couple of your relators that said ‘wow, it is hard to explain to their colleagues around the province how well their sales have been and what they’ve been able to move and what they’ve been able to accomplish in the City of Melville'” Kaeding explained.
From what he’s heard within CN, Kaeding says they’ve done a major track expansion east to the Manitoba border, adding next year’s plan is continued work on the Melville railyard and a double-track expansion to the west.
Mayor Walter Streelasky says he’s pleased with this.
“With respect to land purchases, housing purchases this is good news for our community.”
