The 2020 Canadian Student Leadership Conference will be hosted by the Yorkton Regional High School.
Mayor Bob Maloney expects it will be a huge economic benefit to the city.
“We look forward to it, it’s going to be another great showcase for the city.” he said.
The city has agreed to waive the criminal record check fee of roughly $2-thousand for residents who agree to billet 4 students.
Between 8-hundred and 1-thousand students are expected to attend and Maloney is excited to see it return to this city for the third time.
“I really commend the Y-R-H-S, the group that pulled it together. I think if we can bring young people from across the country to a central location and they can meet each other, they’ll find out that they agree on a lot more things than they disagree on, and I think it’s really important to promote keeping the country together.” Maloney said.
The very first national student leadership conference was held in Yorkton in 1985.
