The Saskatchewan government has appointed retired rural administrator Vern Palmer to supervise the operations of the RM of McKillop, about 80 kilometers northwest of Regina.
Government relations minister Warren Kaeding says Palmer will oversee the progress on recommendations from a recent inspector’s report on the Rural Municipality.
“What we’re asking Palmer to do is provide guidance to the R.M. in their decision-making…they’re going to be facing an election coming up, they’ve got some questions being asked, petitions being presented to them, they have to take action on.
We’ve asked Mr. Palmer to approve bylaws and resolutions, we’ve asked him to attend all the meetings — regular meetings, special council meetings, committee meetings.” explained Kaeding.
Kaeding says the supervisor will assist with a new utility rate bylaw for residents of Sun Dale, help with referendums on resort communities and complete a financial audit.
In August, Kaeding announced an inspection for the RM of McKillop, about 80 kilometers northwest of Regina, following threats of a taxpayer revolt.
