Manitoba Agriculture’s weekly crop report pegs harvest progress in the province at 78% complete, up just slightly from the previous week.
Manitoba Agriculture’s Anastasia Kubinec says many crops have been sitting in the field for close to a month now and quality is taking a beating.
“Some of the cereals that are left in the field will go from a number one to a number three. There could also be sprouting issues if grain is left in the swath for too long and that could occur in cereals and canola.” she said.
Kubinec says while it appeared back in August that we would enjoy an early harvest that has completely turned around and now harvest is behind normal for this time of year.
Kubinec says harvest in the southwest and northwest regions is now approximately 75% complete.
