SaskPower is running a retail discount program for energy-efficient lighting products from now until the end of this month.
This year’s program focusses on LED bulbs, motion censors, timers and dimmer switches.
It’s been offered through 17 participating retailers at 190 locations in 113 communities across Saskatchewan, including Yorkton, Melville, Canora, Churchbridge, Wynyard, Wadena, Kelvington, Foam Lake, Fort Qu’Appelle, Broadview, Moosomin and Carlyle.
The provincial power company says lighting accounts for roughly 17 per cent of a home’s total power consumption and using energy-saving products like LED bulbs, as an example, use 80 per cent less electricity.
