Police officers across the country are taking a proactive approach to impaired driving prevention through Operation Impact this weekend.
RCMP officer, Sgt. Conrad Logan with Combined Traffic Services of Saskatchewan, says it’s a national initiative from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police annually around the Thanksgiving weekend.
He says officers will be doing stop-checks and will be looking for the big four: impaired driving, seatbelt use, aggressive driving, and distracted driving.
Sgt. Logan says his message is simple.
Drive safe, drive for the road conditions and the weather, be cognizant of what’s around you and other traffic that’s on the road with you.
Operation Impact runs through Monday.
