An update on the Anne Portnuff Theatre Revitalization Project in Yorkton.
“A new carpet has been installed, the floors have been resealed, lights – both stage lights and house lights – have been upgraded to LEDs,” said Yorkton Arts Council administrator Tonia Vermette. “The curtains are probably being hung as we speak and seat installation will begin later this week.”
With all the progress Vermette says everything should be complete later this month, just in time for a concert coming up in early November.
“The Stars for Saskatchewan concert featuring Tim Tamashiro, a Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. tribute called “When You’re Smiling” is on November 4 and we will be in there in the new theatre.” she said.
Vermette adds the project has come a long way since the beginning, and took the time to thank everyone for their ongoing support.
“Thanks to all the community fundraisers and all of the big donors, including Co-op Community Spaces Program, the Richardson Foundation and also the C-I-F – Community Initiatives Fund – for all the grant money we’ve received.”
