Saskatoon police are reminding people that even though marijuana is legal now, edibles, oils and tinctures are not.
Recently, flyers have popped in some people’s mailboxes for an online company which is advertising edibles among its products.
Saskatoon Police Superintendent Dave Haye says pot edibles are still illegal, and aren’t expected to be available for sale legally until October of next year.
This flyer also included medical marijuana tinctures.
Haye says medical marijuana is a separate stream from recreational marijuana and it needs to be be prescribed by a doctor and then bought from a Health Canada authorized producer/distributor.
You’ll know your marijuana is legal if it has an excise stamp on it.
Haye’s advice is buyer beware because it’s against the law to possess illegal cannabis.
He suggests checking the federal government’s website with all of its cannabis information to make sure you are completely informed.
