Saskatchewan RCMP were out and about on provincial roads and highways this past weekend as part of a High Visibility Enforcement initiative.
The RCMP were out looking for the big four – seatbelt use, impaired, distracted and aggressive drivers – along with ensuring vehicles are safe, and motorists have up to date registration and licenses.
Over 17-hundred vehicles passed through check stops that were set up around the province, and the results were a mixed bag.
80 Traffic Safety Act tickets were issued, 4 vehicles failed a safety inspection and 1-and-a-half pounds of Cannabis was seized from one vehicle.
There were also 5 road side suspensions issued relating to alcohol and drug use, 28 written warnings and one vehicle impounded.
The RCMP say they will conduct several High Visibility Check stops over the next year under SGI’s Traffic Safety Initiatives.
