Encouraging businesses to work with the Indigenous community and to identify opportunities to move forward together was one of the focuses during the Indigenous Business Forum Thursday morning in Saskatoon.
Indigenous business leaders from across the province spoke at the event including the Founder and CEO of Fitness 2J2, Joel Pederson.
During his presentation the CEO touched on his time with the Saskatoon Police Service.
Pederson says his time with the police taught him about community engagement and working with people in the community and he has taken that knowledge and applied it to his health and fitness business.
The CEO adds his company does a lot of programming with inner city, core neighbourhoods and with northern Metis and First Nations communities.
Pederson also provided some advice for those looking to enter into the world of business.
He says networking and finding like-minded people is key to creating a successful business and that patience is also needed when establishing a new business.
