A drug trafficking investigation called Project Derelict has been ongoing since July, and the Manitoba RCMP appear to have caught a break.
Mounties say it targeted the Manitoba Warriors Street Gang’s drug network, based in Winnipeg and the R.M. of Headlingley, and believe its supplying northern communities, including The Pas, with cocaine.
An October 5th traffic stop on Highway 6 resulted in the seizure of 84 grams of cocaine, and a subsequent search at a residence in the R.M. of Headingley lead to drug paraphernalia, a 9mm carbine rifle and ammo being seized as well.
Six gang members were arrested and charged, including 20-year-old Bethany Cook and 40-year-old Mona Copapay, both of The Pas, but the pair were released from custody.
