The Manitoba Public Utilities Board approved an overall general rate increase of 1.8 per cent for basic compulsory motor vehicle premiums.
The rate increase was approved by the Manitoba Public Utilities Board, but not all rates for drivers within major vehicle classes will experience an adjustment.
Major vehicle classes include private passenger, commercial, public (taxi), motorcycle, trailers and off-road vehicles.
The adjustments will be determined by Manitoba Public Insurance’s rate design, which will look at factors such as a policyholder’s driving record, make, model and year of the registered vehicle, the purpose of that vehicle and where the policyholder resides.
The increase will take effect March 1st, 2019.
