The Swan Valley Stampeders opened up their 2018 MJHL Showcase on Tuesday afternoon with a 4-3 come from behind win over the Portage Terriers.
The Terriers got off to a hot start with two first period goals from Braden Billaney and Orca Wiesblatt to give them an early 2-0 lead after 1 period.
The Stamps would get one bak early in the 2nd as Alex Uryga would knock home his 6th of the season past former Stampeder Ethan Peterson. But just 1:44 later, Jay Buchholz would regain Portage’s one goal lead 3-1. But two more 2nd period goals by Quintin Sudom and Josh Tripp would pull Swan even at 3-3 after 40 minutes.
In the 3rd it would Captain Jaden Townsend providing the heroics as he would bang home a rebound past his former teammate for his 11th goal of the season to give the Stamps the two points.
Campbell Balk (pictured above) also had a big night for Swan with 3 assists while Swan G Merek Pipes made 28 saves to earn the victory.
Swan improved their record to 22-6-2-2 on the season going for 48 points and into a first place tie with Portage atop MJHL standings.
Swan Valley will wrap up their MJHL Showcase on Wednesday afternoon at 1PM from the Seven Oak Rec Center when they face off with the Selkirk Steelers.

Chantz Petruic scored twice including the OT winner as the Yorkton Terriers beat the Melfort Mustangs 5-4 on Tuesday night at the FAA.
Branden Klatt, Kishaun Gervais, and Kurri Woodford also scored Yorkton who got a 36 save performance from goaltender Ryan Ouellette in the win.
The Mils next action will be on Friday night when they host the Melville Millionaires for their 3rd meeting of the season. “Sask Milk” Pregame begins at 7:20, pxp starts at 7:30 with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey on GX94.
