Swan Valley Stampeders’ held Annual General Meeting on Wednesday

Over 40 people turned out last night (Wed) as the MJHL’s Swan Valley Stampeders held their annual general meeting in Swan River.

Stampeders President Pat Morden says it was a great turnout by the community as lot of them came out to meet new Head Coach/GM Geoff Grimwood for the very first time.

He says financially thought they had some sobering results as the team reported a deficit of $6,402.95.

“You look at our numbers from the year and it’s almost at a break-even point but that’s with a long playoff run so without that, it would’ve been a totally different story.”

Morden adds there a couple factors that hurt the bottom line.

“Busing was a big factor, as well as sticks expense which I’m sure everyone in the league was affected as our stick expense nearly doubled this year with the league’s agreement with CCM and it turns out the sticks are more expensive and they don’t last as long.”

The board sits now at 7 members after Warren Clark stepped down and they are still looking to fill their board of 12 ahead of the new season.

If you, or someone you know wants to join please contact any board member or contact Pat Morden at 1-204-734-9627.
