Canaryseed Producers Could Face Financial Loss

Canaryseed producers in Saskatchewan with unpaid deliveries to ILTA Grain could face significant losses. The Canadian Grain Commission has suspended ILTA Grain licenses at Belle Plaine and Saskatoon after the company sought creditor protection this month. Saskatchewan Canaryseed Development Commission executive director Kevin Hursh, says a couple of canaryseed producers are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars and may never see the money. Most crops are covered under the grain commission bonding program, but not canaryseed.
