Longer Layoffs at Nutrien Mine

Nutrien employees who work at the Vanscoy mine found out this (Wed) morning, the mine will be offline for at least another five weeks.
The more than 250 workers were at work, when they were informed that Vanscoy won’t be recalled until the end of January at the earliest.
Approximately 450 workers at the Allan and Lanigan mines are slated to return to work on December 29th.
In September, Nutrien announced it was going to shutter its Allan, Lanigan, and Vanscoy operations due to a softening in the global fertilizer market.
Rocanville workers whose layoffs were announced at the end of November, which the company says were because of the CN Rail strike, returned to work this past Monday.
