Former Melville Teacher Believes Seat Belts Saved Her and Her Son’s Life

Buckling up is the focus for SGI and police in Saskatchewan for this month’s traffic safety spotlight.

Regina residents Milissa Gavel and her 14-year-old son Kai were involved in a high-speed rollover when Kai was only three months old on Highway 10, driving from Melville to Regina.

Despite losing control after sliding on black ice and rolling into the ditch, all occupants of her vehicle survived the accident without any injuries, because everyone was properly secured.

Milissa says she can’t imagine being in a vehicle without wearing a seat belt now.
