Municipalities Call For More Funding

Municipalities across the country are collectively asking the federal government or between 10 and 15-billion dollars in emergency funding to help with costs due to COVID-19. Municipalities of Saskatchewan president Gordon Barnhart gives the example of the millions of dollars lost per month in larger cities for transit service and the revenue from recreation services that have had to close. He says recent federal and provincial funding announcements will help, but adds it’s not new money, but existing funds arriving earlier.
