Abernethy Man Accused of Assaulting Police Officers Pleads “Not Guilty”, Headed to Trial in August

An Abernethy man arrested following the alleged assault of police officers, was back in court yesterday (MON).
Around 3 a.m. on January 19th, RCMP were called to an Abernethy home, to deal with a domestic dispute, and when Mounties tried to arrest the man, both suspects became aggressive, allegedly assaulting the officers.
A taser was used on the woman, to no effect, and the man tried to grab it from the officer.
25-year-old Brandon Poorman and 20-year-old Marlee Quewezance each pled “not guilty,” to two counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer, with Quewezance’s next appearance set for July 16th.
Poorman had his matter adjourned for trial to August 31st.
