Punnichy man charged in Regina stolen vehicle/standoff case back in court

One of two people charged after a weekend incident just north of Regina earlier this month, involving a stolen vehicle, has appeared in court again.

On September 6th, police used a spike belt to stop the vehicle on Highway 6, but the two occupants – a man and a woman – refused to exit, leading to a two-hour standoff, before they finally surrendered.

The man started showing signs of a drug overdose, and was taken to hospital where he tried to escape.

45-year-old Joseph Cyr, of Punnichy, appeared in Regina Provincial Court yesterday (WED), and remains in custody, to appear again on October 7th.

40-year-old Kelly Twist, of the Gordon First Nation, will make her first appearance on October 26th.
