Tarrington Wyonzek, who grew up in the Yorkton and Canora area will have the chance to officiate on the World Hockey stage later this month.

The 28 year old was chosen to work as a linesman at the upcoming 2021 World Junior Hockey Championship in Edmonton, scheduled for December 26 to January 5, assuming there are no changes due to COVID.

The tournament is to take place in the same Bubble where the NHL held its games earlier this year.


Today (Tues) is the final day for those in the Swan River area to help out the MJHL’s Swan Valley Stampeders.

The Stampeders are currently collecting non-perishable foods, gently used winter jackets, winter boots, mitts, toques, and toys for the local Swan Valley Community families in need.

There are two spots for drop off: at the Star and Times Newspaper in Swan River from 8AM to 5PM today (Tues) or the Stampeders Hockey office at the Centennial Arena where you can leave the items outside the office door.

Rick Campbell’s list of job duties grew once again as the B-C Lions named the head coach and defensive co-ordinator a co-general manager.

Campbell will share the role with the club’s longtime football operations director Neil McEvoy.

And the Edmonton Football Team has extended the contract of general manager and vice president of football operations Brock Sunderland through the 2023 season.
