Yorkton fire chief Trevor Morrissey has provided an update on yesterday’s (Weds) early morning blaze at an apartment on 5th avenue and Duncan street.
He says a kitchen in one unit was the point of origin, but the exact cause has not been determined.
“We just need to do some confirmation interviews and hopefully get to a final solution here in the next 24 hours.” Morrissey said.
He says some of the residents who had to be evacuated were allowed to return and get personal belongings , but the scene remains closed.
“We want them to be able to get their stuff out before there’s any damage due to weather…but we still maintain control of the scene and it will be until tomorrow when we release it to an insurance company.” the fire chief added.
He says no damage estimate has been given yet.
