Harvest is upon us, and SaskPower is asking farmers to work with extreme caution around power lines.

Spokesman Scott McGregor says it’s very easy for large equipment to come into contact with power lines.

In the event an operator does come into contact with a power line, they should remain in their vehicle if it’s safe to do so, and call the SaskPower Outage Centre at 310-2220.

McGregor adds that nearly half of all farm safety incidents happen during harvest season.

306 incidents involving farm equipment contacting power lines were reported in 2020.
