Saskatchewan Reports 1,347 New Cases Of COVID-19, 1,187 Recoveries, No Deaths

  • As of January 17th, there are 1,347 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 101,537 reported cases.
  • The new cases are located in the Far North West (11), Far North East (16), North West (33), North Central (122), North East (51), Saskatoon (452), Central West (45), Central East (67), Regina (268), South West (33), South Central (37) and South East (51) zones and 161 new cases have pending residence information.
  • 17 SK residents tested out of province were added to Saskatoon (from January 13 (2), January 14 (4), January 15 (1)), Central West (from January 14 (1), January 15 (1)), Regina (from January 13 (1), January 14 (4)), South West (from January 14 (1)), South East (from January 15 (1)) zones. One (1) case with pending residence information was added to case counts on January 14, 2022.

  • 101,537 cases are confirmed
    • 25,656 cases are from the Saskatoon area
    • 21,849 cases are from the North area (9,505 North West, 9,088 North Central, 3,256 North East)
    • 21,110 cases are from the Regina area
    • 13,174 cases are from the South area (2,745 South West, 3,851 South Central, 6,578 South East)
    • 9,772 cases are from the Far North area (4,631 Far North West, 550 Far North Central, 4,591 Far North East)
    • 7,911 cases are from the Central area (1,821 Central West, 6,090 Central East)
    • 2,065 cases have pending residence information
  • 11,642 cases are considered active and 88,934 cases are considered recovered.
  • Nearly two-fifths (38.4%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.
  • As of January 17th, a total of 167 individuals are hospitalized; including 154 inpatient hospitalizations, and 13 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 167 patients, 57 (34.1%) were not fully vaccinated.
  • The SHA dashboard includes 167 hospitalizations: 154 residents are inpatient: of those, 67 inpatient hospitalizations are a COVID-19 – related illness, 52 are incidental, COVID infections and 35 have not yet been determined. 13 residents are in ICUs: of those, eight (8) are for COVID-19 – related illnesses, five (5) are for incidental, COVID infections.
  • No (0) new death reported today. 961 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 0.9%.
  • 1,385,661 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of January 12, 2022, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,157,945 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,430,788 tests performed per million.
  • The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 1,208 (100.3 new cases per 100,000.)
  • Since January 1, the New Cases by Vaccination Status table has shown a significant number of new cases as unvaccinated. This data is not accurate. This table is no longer featured on the dashboard until a review of the information is complete and the data rectified.
