Canada Announces Third Round Of Sanctions Against Russia

Canada announced further sanctions against Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau added that sanctions are being put against Russian President Vladimir Putin himself, his chief of staff and foreign minister Sergey Lavrov.

Trudeau notes that Canada will be in favour of removing Russia from the SWIFT payment system, cutting off Russia from a critical part of the global banking system.

Trudeau adds that Canada is issuing sanctions against Belarus and their leaders for aiding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
