In an effort to help prevent overdose deaths in Saskatchewan, the province is expanding access to free Take Home Naloxone kits. The free kits are now available in more than 76 Saskatchewan communities. The province notes that pharmacists can provide free training on the use of the kits to anyone at risk of an opioid overdose, or to family and friends who may witness such an event, and a list of locations where the free kits can be found, is online at www.saskatchewan.ca/overdose. Naloxone temporarily reverses the effects of an opioid overdose, potentially giving time time for medical help to arrive.
